Any project that does not fit into the category of documentary including but not limited to fictional projects (including mockumentaries), music videos, episodic (a single pilot episode is acceptable), lifestyle shows, reality TV, talk shows, “How to” docs, docusoaps, news and reporting, video games, websites and non-Canadian content.
One-sided political advocacy projects, or projects which do not present a balanced perspective on a topic, are also ineligible for funding. Presenting a balanced perspective means stories must fairly represent all sides of a story.
Projects must be factual (based on research) and must not be biased or present one specific ideological perspective or point of view.
See our eligibility section in the 2021 Community Stories program submission rules.
