What happens if my Youth Community Stories application is successful?

Each successful Youth Community Stories applicant is eligible to receive mentorship, training and $10,000 in production funding to produce and complete a locally reflective short documentary or short film that will be featured on TELUS Optik TV On Demand and other TELUS Platforms (including but not limited to Optik on the Go).


Before the funding is awarded, the Adult Project Lead must submit current proof of residency for the address listed on their application. For Youth Community Stories, the Adult Team Leads Community of Residence must be either the Okanagan region: Kamloops (Kamloops and Williams Lake), Kelowna (Armstrong, Creston, Kelowna, Peachland, Trail, and Westbank), Penticton (Castlegar, Gallagher Lake, Naramata, Penticton, Okanagan Falls, Oliver, Osoyoos, and Summerland), and Vernon (Oyama, Salmon Arm, Vernon) region of British Columbia.

Successful applicants must attend 1 weekend of hands-on Youth Edition Workshops on the following dates:

Kelowna workshop:
Workshop Day 1 - Sat Feb 8, 2020
  Workshop Day 2 - Sun Feb 9, 2020
Kamloops workshop: Workshop Day 1 - Sat Feb 28, 2020
  Workshop Day 2 - Sun March 1, 2020

The Youth Community Stories Workshops are a vital part of the Youth Community Stories process.
Successful applicants must complete and deliver their short film to Reel Youth by June 26, 2020.
